Wang Ping attended the National Nanchi Chinese Primary School in elementary school. Because he was very active, he could not sit in class, plus he hated reading and was easily distracted during class, so the teacher advised Wang Ping to go to the tennis court to exhaust his physical strength. This was the beginning of Wang Ping's contact with tennis.
Wang Ping, who had never touched tennis at all, was picking and dropping balls at first, and many children might get bored and give up, but they didn't think Wang Ping found it quite fun. After two and three months, he began to take the racket and practice swinging. By the time he started playing simple ball during junior school, he became more interested in tennis. He even officially joined the tennis team and began regular tennis training on Wednesday.
Little Four began to play with the team, losing and winning, and Wang Ping gradually rose to prominence in the “Tainan City 103 Middle School Tennis Competition”, where he was surprisingly confident of winning the singles match, and also helped the South Korean minor tennis team win the championship in this tournament.
After a successful performance in the team tournament in the Tainan region, Qiamong coach Yao Bingsheng suggested that Wang Ping start participating in the National Youth Individual Tournament held by the Taiwan Tennis Association. Wang Ping in 4th grade participated in the “Babolat Cup” held in Taoyuan, a 10-year-old C-class competition, which was unknown to him at the time, went through the closure. Chopped, won the first individual tournament title of his tennis career, and then he slowly worked his way up and achieved great results in the national competition. The following year, Wang Ping participated in the most significant “Four-Dimensional Tape Cup” in primary school tennis. He reached the top eight on his way to the competition of many excellent players. Unfortunately, he lost to the first seed of the conference, Lin Nan-Hun, in the semifinals, and finally got the fifth place.
After constant practice and competition, Wang Ping maintained his passion for tennis. At this time, the coach and parents found that group training alone at school was not enough, so he visited the coach Huang Ming Chun at the Tong Ning Sports Park tennis court and began one-on-one tutoring of Wang Ping. Wang Ping, who is in fifth grade of primary school, takes a train to Tainan City after class every day. He practices from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. He practices all day on Saturdays, and only Sunday afternoons are closed on seven days a week.
At the peak of his primary school years, Wang Ping won the national ranking points over other players after winning the Class A “Prime Minister's Cup” at the age of 12, and officially became the number one nationally ranked junior tennis player at the age of 12 in 2015, putting a perfect end to his tennis career in elementary school.
From the beginning, just because he was very active, he entered the tennis team with a fun mindset, and then slowly trained to win the ball. Wang Ping also wanted tennis to continue to improve after graduating from elementary school. He entered the Tainan Senior Chinese Sports Class. In addition to continuing to be coached by Huang, Wang Ping wanted to continue to improve in the Chinese First Division after graduating from primary school. Having also met Wang Ping's benefactor, mentor Ye Yu-Chuang, the coach's rigorous training and caring moments of guidance, Wang Ping, 14 years old, has consistently remained in the top ten of the national ranking. During this period, in addition to participating in domestic competitions, Wang Ping also went to different national matches against U14 and ITA. For Wang Ping, there was a lot of learning and experience.
In the second semester, I thought that this life would continue, but because Dad moved back to Zhu School, on the other hand, there was just an opportunity to go to Texas, USA. After considering it, my parents wanted to expand Wang Ping's horizons further, to see the outside world abroad, and decided to move the whole family back to Hsinchu, and Send Wang Ping to the United States to study, live at his uncle's house and play while missing books.
Entering high school in the United States, despite being almost completely fluent in the language, with his deep background in Taiwan, he soon became a major force in the school team, a figurehead of the school. However, just the day before the championship of the entire season, Wang Ping was named from the school team due to his historical record of only 69 points and not reaching the minimum standard of 70 points for the school team. The coach was removed from the school team. The championship game could not be played, failed to set a record, and the school lost this crucial game as a result! This was a big blow to Wang Ping, so that he knew that he could do everything if he played well, that an outstanding sports student, the most important thing is to do his part, and to do it well, which is to respect the identity of sports students and to be responsible for their performance.
After only six months in the United States, his uncle became ill and no one took care of him, and his parents took Wang Ping back to Taiwan and lived with his family in Hsinchu. Because Wang Ping likes to live in the United States very much, and compared to closed education in Taiwan, the education system in the United States is very open, encouraging students to be responsible for their own choices. After some thought, Wang Ping wanted to go to the United States to study at university, so after returning to Taiwan, he chose “Hsinchu County “Cornell American School”, hopes to transfer to American universities. At this time, I met coach Xu Yao-sheng in Hsinchu and, with the help of coach Xu, continued his tennis training, training three times a week or two hours each. However, the main focus of his life is no longer on tennis, so he can mix and match. Looking back now, Wang Ping is very grateful that the coach did not give up on him at the time, and that the coach created Wang Ping today with his hard heart and constant encouragement and guidance. At the same time, Wang Ping would also like to thank his partner at the time Lin Shi-ping and his elder sisters from all the team for bringing Wang Ping back his passion for the game and his passion for tennis.
After entering high school, Wang Ping, who did not focus on tennis, began to participate in various activities, such as WSC (World Scholars Cup), MUN (Simulation United Nations), and VEX (Robot Games). He also volunteered, played baseball, and began reading many different types of books. Wang Ping began to think about the future and found himself interested in psychology. After a while of adaptation, the body and mind were very relaxed, Wang Ping found that he either liked tennis or wanted to improve. After that, his attitude changed enormously, not only to fully devote himself to practice, but to really enjoy the tennis he liked, and from being lazy to being afraid of every mistake. A chance to improve with all your heart.
Since regaining his passion for tennis, Wang began training in practice, spent holidays playing with different players in Taiwan, and met Youyu athletes at Jiankuo High School. When Yu Yu applied to American University as a sports student, Wang Ping was inspired to start studying at American University. Finding that American universities treat sports students very well, while also having certain academic requirements, is an opportunity to look at the development of academia and tennis at the same time if you are willing to work hard.
After talking and thinking with himself, as well as discussions with his family, Wang Ping really determined his goals and wanted to apply to American universities as a sports student. It was much easier to reapply to the University of America compared to Taiwan Nose High School, and the tuition was cheaper, and the family was very supportive. Wang Ping went to Texas, USA again to enter the local high school yearbook and pursue his goals. Unfortunately, for the second time in the United States, due to the big outbreak of Covid-19, the epidemic was very serious. In the end, with a few considerations, Wang Ping still returned to Taiwan and continued his studies at Kongno-Hsiung American School in Hsinchu County, but he did not give up his goal of going to NU and continue to maintain normal tennis training And at the same time strive to keep academic achievement at a certain level, waiting for the next opportunity to go to the United States.
During the summer after high school, Wang Ping went almost to the United States to attend USTA tennis matches, hoping for a chance to compete in the United States a little more and create better results for himself. Wang Ping earned a rating of 5 Stars in Tennis Recruiting and a UTR of more than 11.0 during his time at Tennis Recruiting. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, Wang Ping was unable to compete in the United States for almost two years, and related ratings and results dropped significantly. After a summer vacation, the pandemic is slowing down, I can go to the USA. Because the time for applying for university is approaching, Wang Ping does not want to compete blindly, must effectively improve his grades and visibility. He also wants to decide on his target university this summer vacation, so he contacted the team of Organizing Sport. Thank you very much for the help of Frank Chen and Kevin Lai, two big brothers, who made detailed and professional tournament planning and arranged a three-stop ITA competition during this crucial summer vacation.
Wang Ping arrived in the United States and, according to his plan, participated in Texas Slam, Texas's biggest youth tournament of the year, with high intensity, and Wang Ping eventually reached the top eight as the only non-seeded player. After the competition ended, Trinity University, a very good Tier III (D3) private school in Texas, invited Wang Ping to visit the school and decided to invite Wang Ping and give him a scholarship, which undoubtedly gave Wang Ping a strong dose, but Wang Ping had his hopes of getting into a Level I (D1) American University. So there is no acceptance at the moment and hope to have a better performance in the next three ITA matches!
After that, Wang Ping took part in the ITA first stop, in Arlington, Texas, according to the advice of the “Movement Movement”. In the process, the eight won the players with UTR 11.5 points, the four met the players with UTR 12.3 points, and also worked hard to win, and the final championship battle lost to UTR 12.6 points, from the first-ranked tennis school University of Players from Tulsa, won the runner-up.
At the second stop, because the intensity of the competition was too high and his body was accidentally injured, so he left the race halfway. Wang Ping was grateful to “Weaving Sport” for arranging Wang Ping to the training base in Chicago to continue treatment and participate in training, while also helping Wang Ping to record and arrange visits to DePaul and Marquette universities. Coaches from both schools and the University of Alabama at Birmingham also came to the base to watch Wong Ping training at the base, especially at the invitation of the “Align Movement”.
The third place went to Tennessee, although the first game was lost, but after entering the division, Wang Ping won the road and eventually won the division championship, at which time Wang Ping's UTR also reached a career high of 11.7 points. Through the “Knit Movement”, Wang Ping met Vanderbilt's Vice President Ryan. Ryan appreciated Wang Ping's potential and invited Wang Ping to visit the school. After meeting with the school and head coach Ian, the two talked about their experiences in high school, and then invited Wang Ping to attend Vanderbilt's philosophy book, and join the tennis team. This is a great encouragement to Wang Ping, after all, Vanderbilt is one of the top 15 schools in the United States, known as “South Harvard”, and a school with a long history and excellent results!
In addition to Vanderbilt, Wang Ping also visited Middle Tennessee State, Belmont, and three first-tier universities, including Clemson, Wisconsin, and Drake, and expressed interest in Wang Ping through the “Weaving Movement.”
After the summer games, Wang Ping had many top-notch American universities to choose from. Vanderbilt and Trinity were the last two schools to consider. Although he once worried that he would not be able to look at both classes and sports at Vanderbilt, after much thought and with the help of a “Forest Book I could do it too” In a hurry, Wang Ping decided to follow his dream of booking a varsity tennis league and chose Vanderbilt University.
Wang Ping selected the reference based on:
1. The size of the course (large number of people per class)
2. School Culture: Friendly Mutual Aid vs Competitive Growth
3. Do detailed homework on the “department” (including the thesis of the faculty, the development of alumni, the overall satisfaction of the students with the department, etc.)
4. SCHOOL LOCATION: ASIAN POPULATION, TRAFFIC, URBAN ENVIRONMENT
5. Tennis school team strength
There are countless misadventures along the way, countless times plans are disrupted, and countless moments of ill-considered abandonment. And I'm sure most people don't always walk smoothly, but if I can do it, you can do it!
Wang Ping is currently majoring in Psychology and Education at Vanderbilt University. Although the classes are very heavy, good time management can be done in both classes and tennis. The atmosphere of the tennis team is good, the team is united, the goals are consistent, the training is professional, the resources are well resourced. In addition to the diet, there is a restaurant dedicated to student athletes, a variety of health supplements available free of charge. There is also an unlimited supply of nutrition bars, dry food and various sports drinks next to the court.
The boys tennis team has a total of 10 players, and the school will arrange specialized physical trainers to measure the core muscle mass and bounce ability of different parts of the players according to the instruments... Among other things, go to plan each player's weekly training sessions; the team also has a dedicated physiotherapist who is responsible for the normal health or treatment of the player's injuries; a psychotherapist can consult if the state of mind needs help; in terms of diet, there is also a nutritionist who plans different dishes monthly according to the results of the physical examination If the class does not keep up, there are also after-school tutors who can help. Finally, in terms of hardware, there is a hot water pool for sports students, a cold pool, a weight training room and a changing room that is about to be completely renovated, which is very caring for sports students.
Wang Ping has played eight games in total, with two wins in singles and three defeats in doubles, two wins and three defeats in doubles, Wang Ping believes that it is not ideal at the moment, but there will definitely be continued progress after that. At the same time, thank all those who have helped themselves, and without their help, it is impossible for you to succeed. Finally, Wang Ping said that tennis players in Taiwan are very competitive. If they can improve their academic and English skills at the same time, there will be more visibility at American universities and around the world. He hopes that in the future more Taiwanese players will work together in American university tennis.
Wang Ping's inner voice has many more things to say and suggestions to continue...
